Environmental justice is a prominent issue for Native American nations within the United States. One example abandoned uranium mines on Navajo Nation that have been left unremediated since Cold War. Often, environmental policy developed issues facing do not include input from those nations. Instead, should opportunity to address using their traditional ecological knowledge (TEK). TEK has ties natural laws long respected by tribal communities; these provide foundation addressing complex relationship between nature and humans. development concerns determined non-Native stakeholders, which can negative efffects communities.
